Welcome to Cape Haven, a sleepy little town tucked away on the Massachusetts peninsula! Like many New England towns, it sees its fair share of sun and snow. Unlike most, it's got an large population of werecreatures roaming about its streets. Between the local university and the picturesque view, all sorts of folks are drawn into the warm embrace of Cape Haven. The question is, what are they? Better yet, what are you?

devil's pit

Tucked away in an old warehouse near the Boston Harbor are a number of illegal fight rings used to entertain the masses. Like a true colosseum, the Devil's Pit offers a wide variety of entertainment. The bloodier the battle the better and fights to the death often draw the largest crowds.

In true underground fashion, the Devil's Pit is run by a syndicate of humans and werecreatures looking to entertain their own kind. Men of greed and power hold the reigns to this disgusting trade and make a fortune off the pain and suffering of others. No one really knows who exactly is in charge though the organization of the whole operation is both impressive and impeccable. The Devil's Pit runs like a well oiled machine and anyone who dares try to shut it down will be lucky to suffer a quick death.
The Devil's Pit offers a number of different fights, each held in a designated ring. Spectators are welcome to roam from ring to ring, picking and choosing what and who to bet on. The largest rings often showcase title fights, the ones that are expected to have the most bloodshed. Death is a common occurrence for at least one (and sometimes both) opponent. Every so often tournaments are held with the hopes of rounding up the strongest fighters. They are also incredibly popular with fans and draw larger crowds than normal.

same species fights

These fights are designed to pit one species of werecreature against a fighter of the same species. Participants are let into the ring in animal form where they will battle until there is a clear winner. Winners are usually decided by death or unconsciousness, though a standard ten-count may also be used. Werecreatures may not revert to their human form during a fight. Doing so is an automatic forfeit of the match. These fights increase in popularity closer to the full moon.

mixed species fights

Sometimes werecreatures of two different species will be pitted against each other in a mixed species battle. Like with same species fights, mixed species fights take place entirely in animal form and shifting to human is an automatic forfeit. These fights may not always be fair match-ups given the natural abilities of certain species. They are especially popular during tournaments, including those where various same species championship winners will duke it out to determine who is the ultimate fighter.

human fights

This does not specifically refer to humans. Rather, any two werecreatures (or a werecreature and a human) are pitted against one another in their human forms, much in the style of the UFC. Two humans may face each other in combat as well, though these fights are rare and don't draw the same crowds. Human form fights are a challenge of brute strength, no animal advantages (partial shifting) allowed. Of course, this doesn't stop the more talented shifters from trying to cheat a little. Werecreatures caught partially or fully shifting forfeit the match.

human form vs. animal form

In the oldest test of strength, a werecreature in human form (or sometimes just a human) is put in the ring with a shifted werecreature. It is man versus animal in the ultimate battle. More often than not this is the preferred method for dealing with troublemakers and those unable to pay their debts. Feed the weak to the lions, so to speak. These tend to be the bloodiest fights, ending in a massacre, and are very rarely voluntary.
There are two kinds of participants, voluntary and involuntary. Voluntary participants are those who willingly step into the ring. Often times they are looking to make some easy cash or genuinely enjoy the brutal sport. Involuntary participants are those that have been forced into the lifestyle for some reason, usually due to debt. They fight because they have no choice and winning is the only way they're guaranteed to keep their lives.

*Please keep in mind that character death is only allowed with permission of the player and that god-modding and power-playing rules apply to all fights (in other words, don't do it). You're welcome to slaughter as many NPC's as you want though, so long as it's within reason.

What's a true spectator sport without an audience? A bunch of pointless bloodshed, that's what. The Devil's Pit wouldn't run without its fans. All species gather to watch the fights, placing bets and taking money. Some own the contestants, train them even. Others are there because they like to see fools rough each other up. The Devil's Pit can even be fun for the whole family (provided you want to corrupt your children). Along with the fight rings the warehouse boasts an in house casino and private viewing boxes. Gambling, violence, the occasional lewd sex act. Chances are if it's illegal, you can find it getting done here.
